SEADS: Past - Present - Future Our purpose is "to promote awareness of solar energy capabilities and demonstrate appropriate alternative techniques, stressing voluntary cooperation and mutual aid, while working toward self-sufficiency and a world at peace."
- Founded as a hands-on solar study group on Long Island in 1979.
- Presently, SEADS is in the process of reconstructing a facility that was built by inexperienced builders. Anyone interested in learning what not to do when you are constructing a facility should join us in the Spring and Summer of 2010 when we will be offering workshops and internships in proper sustainable building techniques. One of the first phases of construction will be a roof over classroom space for renewable energy classes and workspace for our emerging photovoltaic cooperative.
